Religious Education

Achievement and progress in Religious Education are very good. Pupils enjoy different approaches to their Religious Education lessons, (for example drama and art), and demonstrate excellent behaviours for learning, which makes a positive and significant contribution to their achievement.

From Pupil Voice Questionnaire - June 2021

"Our lessons teach us to make more sensible and better choices in life. They help us understand some people are less fortunate than us."

"We learn important things to do with our religion and other religions."

"We are taught to do the right things and make us better and happy."

At Sacred Heart Primary School, we strive to live out explicitly the Catholic ethos and mission of our school. With Jesus at the Heart of all that we do we aim to provide the best education for all our pupils in all areas of the curriculum. Religious Education is the foundation upon which all other areas of the curriculum are built; it underpins the philosophy of everything we teach. Each member of staff has a responsibility for fostering Religious Education within our school family, bringing their own experiences to this process for the benefit of our community.

At Sacred Heart Primary at the heart of our RSE curriculum is our belief that we are made in the image and likeness of God. We use A Journey in Love to support us in teaching the RSE curriculum. This programme is in line with the DFE guidelines and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
